Focus group Meeting Friday 6th March 2015
BMC hosted a well attended meeting of the Patient Participation Group.
Pictured are : Elise Ripley (Dorset CCG locality), Dr Andy Finucane and Pelham Allen (Chair).
Dr Andy Finucane gave a presentation setting out proposals for improving the provision of urgent and acute care for patients. There was an opportunity for a Q&A session, followed by lively debate as people sat in groups to discuss the proposals and the broader issues of patients choosing the right service for their particular need and how the Medical Centre could support them in managing their own health and wellbeing - set against the background of the pressure that Primary Care Services are facing. Ideas flowed freely and there was some positive feedback.
We look forward to a re-invigorated PPG under the chairmanship of Pelham Allen. He is very keen to recruit more patients to the PPG - and to have a more diverse group so as to be fully representative of the patient population. We hope you will join him so that he can harness this huge community resource. If your time is limited, you can join the Virtual Patient Representative Group - contact is via email.

Our Patient Group event held on the 3rd June was a great success.
"Patient Involvement week at Bridport Medical Practice began with a visit from our newly appointed Patient Involvement Coordinator, Elise Ripley (right), who was on hand throughout Tuesday 3 June in our waiting area. Joined by a colleague from NHS Dorset CCG (Sue Brazier, left), Elise was promoting our Patient Participation Group which is open to all our patients. The surgery plan to keep the group informed on the work of the surgery and to provide them with opportunities to give their views on any new developments or changes to services.
As part of the promotional day, and to win a £20 Morrison's voucher, patients were asked to guess the number of satsumas contained in a large jar.
If you would like to know more about our PPG, please ask at Reception or telephone the surgery. We welcome interest from all our patients."
Find out how you can get involved with your local group - it may be as much or as little as you like. We do want to hear your views and be certain that the views of all our patients are fairly represented. PPG
