Covid-19 vaccination clinic Wednesday 20th January

We have received new advice from the UK Chief Medical Officers, informing us that second doses of coronavirus vaccination appointments should be rescheduled. The new medical advice is that the second dose of the vaccine remains effective when given up to 12 weeks after the first dose, and should be given towards the end of this 12 week period.

While patients will need two doses of the vaccine to get the best long-term protection from the virus, they will still have significant protection at 22 days after they receive the first dose.

The new guidance will also help ensure that as many people as possible benefit from the first dose of the vaccine as soon as possible.

Patients should be reassured that there are no safety concerns in the new guidance, and it will not impact on how effective the vaccination is in protecting patients from Covid-19 once the course is complete.

If you are booked for a second vaccination on Wednesday 20th January, we will provide an update regarding this clinic as soon as the plans are confirmed and we will contact you. In the meantime, our telephone lines continue to be extremely busy, and your help by not contacting the practice with vaccination questions is appreciated.

Covid-19 vaccination clinic Wednesday 6th January

Firstly, the vaccination clinic booked for WEDNESDAY 6th JANUARY at Bridport Medical Centre will be going ahead as planned. Patients who are booked into this clinic should please attend, as arranged.

Logistically, at such a late stage, it would be impossible to rearrange the appointments for the 975 patients booked on 6th January. Our Jurassic Coast Clinical Directors, together with Dorset CCG have agreed that this clinic should go ahead, as planned.

Patients booked for their second vaccination  on 6th January do not need to call us unless they need to cancel their appointment.

Please do inform any friends/relatives who may not have access to our website of this update.
